Emergency Handling of Stuck Horizontal Directional Drill Rigs

1. Initial Foundation Management: Immediately stop forced drilling, release torque, gently lift the drill string and slowly rotate it to attempt to loosen the stuck point. Simultaneously, increase mud flow to enhance cuttings removal within the hole and reduce obstruction caused by rock cuttings accumulation.

2. Targeted Management Based on Scenario:
* Stuck against underground pipelines: Withdraw the drill bit, pull back the drill rod, and reposition the rig to re-drill the pilot hole.
* Stuck against small bricks/tree roots: Slowly rotate the drill bit at low speed to ream, and after passing the obstacle, ream again to crush the debris.
* Stuck against large rocks/concrete blocks: Try to withdraw the drill string, reposition and re-drill, or excavate to remove the obstacle before resuming work.
* Stuck in hard clay layers: Significantly slow down the reaming speed, extend the reaming time for a single drill rod, and increase mud injection.

3. Joint rescue for severe stuck drill bit: Connect the drill rod, wire rope and pipe hoist on the side of the soil exit, and apply appropriate thrust to the drill rig at the same time to pull back the reamer to free the drill bit; when the drill bit is stuck in a long distance and complex strata, activate the backup drill rig at the soil exit point to assist in hole washing and retrieval from the opposite side to avoid secondary failures such as drill rod breakage and drill bit burial.
