What are the specific construction steps of directional drilling rigs?
Mar 07, 2025| 1. Construction preparation
Site survey: understand the geological conditions, underground pipeline distribution, surrounding environment, etc. of the construction area.
Equipment entry and layout: including the entry and layout of horizontal directional drilling rigs, drill rods, mud pumps, generators, water tankers and other equipment.
Site leveling: level the construction area to ensure that the drilling rig can be placed stably.
Measurement and layout: according to the design drawings, lay out the drilling site control line and equipment placement line to ensure that the center line of the drilling rig is in a straight line with the entry and exit points.
2. Drilling guide holes
Drilling rig placement and debugging: place the drilling rig in the predetermined position, adjust the level, and connect and test the system.
Mud preparation: prepare appropriate mud according to geological conditions to ensure that it has good fluidity and stability.
Drilling operation: start the drilling rig and drill the guide hole according to the designed trajectory. During the drilling process, the drill bit position is monitored in real time through the guidance system, and the drilling direction is adjusted in time.
Measurement and adjustment: After drilling each drill rod, measure the actual position of the drill bit to ensure that the guide hole meets the design requirements.
3. Pre-reaming
Select the reamer: Select the appropriate reamer according to the geological conditions and the pipe diameter.
Gradual reaming: Expand the hole step by step according to 1.3~1.5 times the pipe diameter until the designed hole diameter is reached.
Mud circulation: Keep the mud circulation to ensure the stability of the hole wall and carry the rock cuttings out.
4. Pull back the pipeline
Connect the pipeline and the drill tool: Connect the pipeline to be laid with the drill rod and install the pull-back joint.
Pull-back operation: Start the drilling rig, pull the pipeline back to the entry point while expanding the hole, and complete the pipeline laying.
Monitoring and adjustment: During the pull-back process, monitor the status of the pipeline in real time to ensure smooth laying.
5. Construction completion
Clean up the site: Dismantle the equipment and clean up the construction site.
Pipeline inspection: Perform non-destructive inspection and pressure test on the laid pipeline to ensure the quality of the pipeline.
Anti-corrosion treatment: Anti-corrosion treatment is performed on the pipeline to ensure its long-term operation.
6. Quality and safety control
Quality inspection during construction: Regularly check the construction data to ensure that each link meets the design requirements.
Safety measures: Strictly abide by the safety operating procedures and ensure that construction personnel wear necessary safety protection equipment.
