Power system: Provides power for the horizontal directional machine, usually using a diesel engine. Its power is one of the indicators to measure the construction capacity of the drilling rig, and the continuous power of the engine is more important. In order to reduce labor intensity and improve labor efficiency, the host is generally equipped with an automatic loading and unloading device for drill rods.
Hydraulic system: Provides hydraulic power to various parts of the host, including the rotation, propulsion, and lifting of the drill rod.
Control system: Controls various parts of the horizontal directional machine, including the start, stop, and speed regulation of the engine, the rotation, propulsion, and lifting of the drill rod, and the control of the guide system.
2. Drilling tools:
Drill rod: An important part of the horizontal directional machine, used to transmit power and torque, and also a channel for mud circulation. The drill rod should have sufficient strength to avoid twisting and breaking, and have sufficient flexibility to drill a curved channel1.
Drill bit: Used to drill holes underground, select a suitable drill bit according to different geological conditions and construction requirements. The drill bit is generally wedge-shaped. During the forward process, if the drill bit rotates continuously, the drilling trajectory is a straight line. When the drill bit wants to bypass an obstacle or advance at a certain radius of curvature, the drill bit stops rotating, allowing the wedge surface to stay at a certain angle before advancing. In this way, the drill bit advances in the opposite direction of the wedge surface.
Hole expander: used to expand the hole after drilling is completed in order to lay the pipeline. There are many types of hole expanders, and different hole expanders are suitable for different soil layers.
3. Guidance system: used to control the direction and depth of drilling to ensure that the drilling is carried out according to the designed trajectory. The guidance system includes a wireless guidance system and a wired guidance system. The wireless guidance system consists of a handheld surface detector and a probe installed in the drill bit. The detector determines the depth of the drill bit, the inclination of the wedge surface and other parameters by receiving the electromagnetic wave signal emitted by the probe, and synchronously transmits the signal to the operating console display of the drilling rig, so that the driller can adjust the drilling parameters in time to control the drilling. When crossing rivers and lakes, due to the difficulty of walking on the ground or the depth of the drilling hole is too deep, the electromagnetic wave signal is difficult to receive, so a wired guidance system must be used.
4. Mud system: used to circulate mud during the drilling process to cool the drill bit, discharge drill cuttings and stabilize the hole wall. The mud system consists of mud tanks, mud pumps, mud pipelines and mud processing equipment.
5. Intelligent auxiliary system: used to improve the construction efficiency and accuracy of the horizontal directional machine, including drilling planning software, automatic hydraulic anchoring system, automatic stacking and extraction of drill rods, automatic lubrication of drill rod connections, anti-electric shock system and other automated operation functions
